Maxwell University’s Robotics Team, TechLions, has made headlines by qualifying for the 2025 Global Tech Challenge in Berlin, Germany. The team secured their spot after clinching first place at the Europe Regional Robotics Competition held in Copenhagen last week. Their autonomous rescue drone—designed to locate and deliver emergency supplies to hard-to-reach areas—impressed judges for its precision, innovation, and real-world application.

Team lead, final-year Engineering student Derrick Miles, described the journey as intense but rewarding. “This is a win for everyone at Maxwell—our mentors, lab technicians, and fellow students who’ve supported us,” he said. The university has pledged full sponsorship for the Berlin trip and will host a public demonstration of the award-winning drone on campus later this month. The Faculty of Technology is also planning a “Tech Innovation Fair” in October to showcase student-led projects.
